Southern University, founded in 1956, is a public, comprehensive institution. Its 17-acre campus is located in a residential secion of New Orleans.

Its 119-acre campus is located in Norfolk, the center of the state's Tidewater region.

Rochester Institute of Technology, founded in 1829, is a private, technological institution. It offers one of the nation's premier cooperative education programs. Two out of every three RIT students participate in cooperative education through full-time, paid work positions in business and industry, alternating with classes on campus. Programs are also offered through the Colleges of Applied Science and Technology, Business, Engineering, Imaging Arts and Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Science. Its 1,300-acre campus is located five miles from downtown Rochester.

California State University Los Angeles, founded in 1947, is a public, comprehensive university. Its 173-acre campus is located at the eastern edge of Los Angeles, adjacent to the San Gabriel Valley.

Felician is a church-affiliated, liberal arts college. Founded as a women's college in 1923, it adopted coeducation in 1986. Its 27-acre campus is located in Lodi, 15 miles from New York City.

Boise State is a public institution. It was founded as a junior college in 1932, became a four-year institution in 1965, joined the state system in 1969 and gained university status in 1974. Its 110-acre campus is located in downtown Boise.

California State University Chico, founded in 1887, is a public, comprehensive university. It is the second oldest California State University. Its 130-acre campus is located in the Sierra foothills, 90 miles north of Sacramento.
