Carthage is a church-affiliated, liberal arts college. Founded in 1847 in Hillsboro, Ill., it moved to its present location in 1962. Its 90-acre campus is located beside Lake Michigan, 30 miles from Milwaukee and 60 miles from Chicago.

Selma University is a private, historically black Bible college founded in 1878. Its campus is located in Selma, 50 miles west of Montgomery.

Rasmussen College provides traditional classroom and online education through a network of regional campuses and partnerships with leading universities. The Ocala campus, which includes a school of nursing, is located in central Florida, about 40 miles south of Gainesville.
