Connecticut College is a private, liberal arts institution. Founded as a women's college in 1911, it adopted coeducation in 1969. Its 700-acre campus (including the 426-acre Connecticut Arboretum) is located two miles from downtown New London.

The University of Connecticut, founded in 1881, is a public, comprehensive university. It is recognized for its excellent academic programs and internationally acclaimed faculty. In addition to an extensive variety of top-quality academic programs offered at the undergraduate level, UConn is the only public university in New England with a School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine and School of Law. Programs are also offered through the Colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Liberal Arts and Sciences; the Schools of Allied Health Professions, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Family Studies, Fine Arts, Nursing, and Pharmacy; and Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture. The university is fast becoming the school of choice for incoming freshmen: enrollment has jumped dramatically in recent years while academic quality has also increased. The university is currently in the midst of an historic building program called UCONN 2000, a nationally unprecedented ten-year, $1 billion program to renew, rebuild and enhance UConn's campuses. The 4,104-acre campus is located in Storrs, 30 miles from Hartford.

City College of New York's John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a public institution of liberal arts and criminal justice. Founded in 1964, it grew out of a program of higher education for New York City police officers. The school seeks to inspire students to the highest ideals of citizenship and public service and serves society by developing graduates who have the intellectual acuity, moral commitment and professional competence to confront the challenges of crime, justice and public safety in a free society. Its campus is located in the Lincoln Center area of Manhattan.

Dartmouth, founded in 1769, is a private, Ivy League college. As President James Wright has observed, "If neither of the descriptive labels college or university fits us easily, that is eminently acceptable. We are a university in name and in basic values and purposes." Dartmouth is committed to promoting and celebrating the diversity of its community members. President Wright adds, "Our commitment to diversity is rooted in the fact that we are an educational institution. It is hard for me to imagine education going on without a richly diverse student body and faculty." Dartmouth's 265-acre campus is located in Hanover, northwest of Boston.

The College of Staten Island, a public institution, was created in 1976 through the merger of Staten Island Community College and Richmond College, an upper-division institution. Its 204-acre campus is located at two sites in Staten Island.

City College, founded in 1847 as the Free Academy, is a public institution. Programs are offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Science and the Schools of Architecture, Education and Engineering, and the Division of the Arts. Its 35-acre campus of Gothic and modern architecture is located in New York's St. Nicholas Heights section.

Daemen, founded in 1947, is a private, career-oriented, liberal arts college. Its 35-acre campus is located in a suburb of Buffalo.

Drexel University, founded in 1891, is a private university. It has a strong coop program that enhances students' career development. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Administration, Engineering, and Information Sciences and Technology, and Nesbitt College of Design Arts. Its 38-acre campus is located in the University City area of West Philadelphia.

Duquesne University was founded in 1878 by the priests and brothers of the Congregation of the Holy Ghost, the Spiritans, and is still a church-affiliated university. Duquesne carries on a more-than-century-old tradition of providing a unique liberal and professional education with an emphasis on moral values, a dedication to quality teaching and a commitment to service. Today, Duquesne University serves more than 9,700 undergraduate and graduate students, offering more than 150 programs on the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels in its nine schools. Attesting to the excellence of a Duquesne education are its selection as one of the top 10 Catholic Universities in the United States by "U.S. News and World Report" and its listing as one of "Money" magazine's 150 Best Buys in American Higher Education. Duquesne is listed as "very competitive" by "Barron's Profiles of American Colleges." Its 43-acre campus overlooks downtown Pittsburgh.

Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, founded in 1857, is a public university. While it is recognized as a leader in academic programming, it also provides opportunities for personal growth. A wide variety of extracurricular cultural, developmental and recreational programs are open to all enrolled students. Its 585-acre campus is located in Edinboro, 18 miles from Erie.
